PSA

I interrupt my normally
scheduled blog to bring you
the following

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

This is Impetigo (eegh).
Click on Jack's mug for a better look.

It's a gross skin infection that produces
blisters and sores most commonly on the face.

Impetigo often develops when there
is a sore or a rash that has been scratched repetitively.
(We think Jack contracted this from a runny nose.)
The sores ooze (sick) and can be transferred
to friends and family
(oh joy).

Apparently it's pretty common during summer.
But since I'm pretty new to the whole kid thing,
I knew virtually nothing about this
annoying little problem.

Luckily we caught it early, got to a doctor,
Jack is now on medication, and
feeling much better (that's right
oozing sores hurt and itch).

Just wanted to pass this little
bit of knowledge along.

Oh and I wanted to apologize
to anyone who came into contact
with Jack on Sunday before
we knew it was an infection and
not pimples from smearing Vaseline
all over his head last week (yeah
he really did that).

We're so sorry Nursery Class,
we had no idea.

Well that explains where Jack was today! We missed him! I've NEVER heard of this. No worries.. I don't think he shared with anyone. Unless it was Emmalyn. She wasn't at nursery today either! I hope he feels better soon!

My son had this when he had bad excema that he scratched and scratched. The best remedy was cleaning/scrubbing it w/ antibacterial soap and then putting neosporin or something on it. Hopefully your doctor already told you that. It was gone in one or two days. Now we just have excema.

My hubby & I are nursery leaders. I would probably be a little worried if one of the kids walked in like that, but it's all good. I hope he feels better. Yucky stuff! So you like the dance pics? Yeah, Mike Frick died in a car accident Thanksgiving morning 2003. He let a friend that was less-sober than he, drive them in his truck home. The driver lost control and crashed. Mike died, a girl sitting on the middle console died, and Mike's cousin Tim Coltas died. The driver and another guy survived. It was pretty tragic. Sad times. I still keep in touch with his family. I had lunch with them a couple weeks ago when I was in Ventura. Bummer huh?
